What do I need to bring to access food?

When you visit us for food assistance, you will be asked to show identification for yourself and every member of your family or other dependents. Bring identification with name, birth date and address. You will also need bags or totes to carry your food home.

Note: At intake, we may ask for personal information beyond identification. These questions are completely voluntary, and help us to better understand your current situation.

Note: We are unable to accept health cards as valid identification.

How many times a year can I use the food bank?

You can come to the food bank once every month along with 2 additional visits per year (14 visits total), for a 6-day supply of healthy food.

Will I get my food the same day that I make an order?

Yes. Our volunteers will put your order together for you to take home that afternoon.

Where can I donate?

You can donate cheques or cash by mail (see the Contact Us page for our mailing address) or drop it off during office hours at the Sharing Place Food Centre Mon- Wed – Fri 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tues 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. You may also donate on our donation page. You can set up a one-time donation or a continuous monthly donation.

Donation made by cheque or cash will be acknowledge by a charitable income tax receipt from The Sharing Place Food Centre.

Do you accept perishable items?

We are able to accept fresh produce, but we must meet the health and safety guidelines for the safe transportation of meat, eggs and dairy. If you are unsure about whether or not you can donate a specific perishable item, just give us a call 705-327-4273 or send us an email at info@sharingplaceorillia.org

I would like to volunteer, who do I contact?

You can drop by The Sharing Place Food Centre at 95 Dufferin St. between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and request a volunteer application. Or, you can download the Volunteer Application. You can email the completed form to us and we will be in touch about an interview.
