School Fuel Student Nutrition Program

Food insecurity significantly impacts a child’s ability to learn. When children arrive at school hungry, their energy, concentration, creativity, and behaviour all suffer. School nutrition programs are vital for the health and education of many students in our community.

The School Fuel program safely delivers a wide range of healthy food items directly to 24 local schools every other week. Designed to be deeply discounted, The Sharing Place offsets the costs to help maximize limited school budgets.

When schools are closed and throughout the summer, we collaborate with school staff, local libraries and other partners to provide nutritious snacks for children and youth in the Orillia area.

  • Healthy breakfast, lunch and snack foods are accessed by more than 4,000 children across 24 local schools daily (when schools are open)
  • 400 snack bags are distributed each week to local libraries and community partners when schools are closed

All donations made by April 30th will be matched up to $20,000, thanks to the generous support of Orillia Home Hardware!
