Advocacy
The Sharing Place advocates to improve food security through food education programs and community partnerships. As part of our mission to build a stronger and healthier community, we are committed to advancing policy solutions to end poverty and food insecurity. Here are some of the organizations we work with:
- Simcoe County Food Council
- Orillia Food Committee – click to read their Growing Change Report
- Eat Well To Excel oversees the Simcoe County School Nutrition programs
- SCATEH
- SDOH Working Group with the Couchiching Ontario Health Team
We also have a new, members-based advocacy group that was formed in 2024:
The Sharing Action Team
Welcome to The Sharing Action Team
At The Sharing Place, we’re dedicated to driving positive change and advocating for issues that matter most to our community. Our advocacy hub is a platform where community members can come together, share ideas, and take action on a new topic every few months.
Join the Conversation
Each month, we’ll spotlight a pressing issue facing our community. From mental health and addiction support to affordable housing and social justice, we’ll cover a wide range of topics that impact us all.
Get Involved
Whether you’re passionate about the topic or want to learn more, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Join the discussion and take action, by attending and volunteering at events and participating in our advocacy letter-writing workshops.
